1/9 Support Wholesome Wave at Whole Foods!

Shop at the West Paces Ferry, Ponce de Leon, or Briarcliff Whole Foods stores on Wednesday, January 9th to support Wholesome Wave, an important program that works with 13 farmers markets statewide (including PRFM) to support our local farmers, economy, and community by doubling the value of SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) spent at local farmers markets. On January 9th, all three in-town Whole Foods stores will be donating 5% of their proceeds to Wholesome Wave, so plan on stopping by and stocking up!

As PRFM completes its 6th season, I'd like to say how much you mean to us.

To our shoppers:
Your farmers market continues to thrive because you show up in the rain, 8 months pregnant, with strollers filled with kids, when it's hot, with your dog, with out of town family, at a chef demo, kids activity or special Friday night Market. We are here each week because you are ready to try a new veggie or share a Swiss chard recipe while waiting to buy bread. Thank you for putting local food on your table each week. Our Saturday community is a place where kids grow up together and neighbors get to know each other. We thank you for supporting local!

Y'all know Hugh Acheson. Meet Hugh's Executive Chef from his Athens restaurant The National—Peter Dale. No, really, you should come meet him this Saturday. A UGA grad, Peter decided to pursue his culinary passion shortly after college. With family heritage from Ecuador and Greece, he had experienced a diverse array of cuisines and was ready to get his start in the field. He began as an apprentice at Hugh's Five & Ten restaurant, with plans to attend culinary school thereafter. Instead, he chose travel as his education and spent time in Europe (mostly Spain) where he found further inspiration and honed his skills. In 2007, Dale and Hugh opened The National, combining their interests in cooking, travel, and food politics. The daily-changing menu features ingredients from local farms and pairs the seasons of Georgia with the flavors of Spain, France, North Africa, Greece, the eastern Mediterranean, and Middle East. This weekend you don't have to travel around the world, or even to Athens, to get a taste for Peter's fantastic dishes—you just have to stop by Peachtree Road Farmers Market for our last demo of the season!

Kick off your December in the finest fashion—by learning from our city’s best (Bacchanalia wasn’t just named by Zagat as Atlanta's top restaurant for the 18th consecutive year for no reason, y’all). You won’t want to miss tips and tastes from Atlanta’s own farm-to-table visionary, Anne Quatrano. Together with her husband, award-winning chef Clifford Harrison, she operates six of Atlanta’s most celebrated restaurants including Bacchanalia, Floataway Café, Star Provisions, Provisions To Go, Quinones at Bacchanalia, and Abattoir. Her love for local, organic produce began at an early age, coming down from New England to visit her mother’s family farm Summerland, near Cartersville, Georgia. We fell in love with Chef Joe Truex at Repast and followed him down Ponce and back up again to his recent post at Watershed. There, he lends his Louisiana style to old favorites and his creative touch to new Southern inspirations. His culinary background includes training in New Orleans at Fairmont Hotel, graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in New York, working at the original Le Cirque under Chef Daniel Boulud, as well as stints in Basel, Switzerland and Las Vegas. We’re oh-so-glad that Chef Truex is now just a couple of blocks down from PRFM, bringing his knowledge of food and wine to bear on an ever-wonderful, ever-expanding Southern table.
