A Whole Lot of Summer Going On

This Week at PRFM

Chef Demo with
Drew Belline
10:00 a.m. on 7/9
Chef Demos are sponsored by
Whole Foods Market
When you think about it, PRFM produce is pretty lucky. Not only is it lovingly grown and harvested, but it’s utilized by the city’s top chefs each week (and by some pretty special shoppers, too)! This week is no exception—we are thrilled to welcome Chef Drew Belline to the Demo Tent, where he’ll wow you with what he does best; create exceptional cuisine based on local and seasonal ingredients (insert our lucky produce here). Belline formed this culinary foundation working under such highly esteemed chefs as Charlie Palmer and Tom Colicchio in NYC before returning to his home state of Georgia to serve as sous chef at Bacchanalia. There, he trained under renowned Chefs Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison before becoming the opening chef de cuisine for Quinones at Bacchanalia; at Quinones, Chef Belline designed a daily changing 12-course tasting menu and soon achieved his goal of a five star rating from the Atlanta Journal –Constitution. Since then, for the last four years, he has delighted guests as the chef de cuisine at Floataway CafĂ©. With such a lauded career, it’s no wonder Atlanta foodies just can’t wait for Belline’s next venture, as executive chef and partner (with none other than JCT. Kitchen’s Ford Fry) of No. 246, slated to open in Decatur this Tuesday, July 12—a locally-driven, Italian-inspired restaurant? Yes, please. A chef who cares about our lucky produce and counts among his hobbies fly fishing and foraging for mushrooms? One to check out, for sure.

Kids Learning Patch: 7/9
8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
This week’s topic:
The Chicken or the Egg?
Sponsored by The Captain Planet Foundation
Bring your “flock” to hang out with some local baby chicks! Kids will learn about the varieties of chickens, egg colors, and more. They’ll also meet a Buckhead chicken expert who’s just 12 years old. Now, that’s something to cluck about—don’t miss it!

News you can use

YES, you still can! PRFM is partnering with The Viking School to offer an intensive canning series. Each class features a mystery ingredient provided by the PRFM farmers. Just pick up your pre-paid bag of ingredients on Saturday at the Market and then join the class on Monday night from 6-8 p.m. at The Viking Cooking School. You’ll leave the class with recipes, sample jars of 2-3 recipes, and a whole lot of canning savvy. The first class will be July 25th and there are only 16 spots, so grab a pal and sign up here! Price per person, per class is $50.

Get ‘em while they’re hot! Tickets are on sale now for The Third Annual JCT. Kitchen Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival! For the drool-worthy details, check out their swanky website at www.jctkitchen.com/tomatofest. Tickets are $70 per person.
