Chef Demos are sponsored by
COUNTRY Financial
By now, you must know how we feel about Local Three. If you’ll pardon the pun, that goes double for the bar program there. Mixologist Kevin Ryan is so good that folks trust him to come up with a drink based on what they like or how they’re feeling. But that’s not to say that the carefully crafted beverage menu isn’t also worth considering—it features more than 40 bourbons, 100 beers, and 100 wines, plus a cocktail list that frequently changes based on the season’s freshest ingredients. Don’t be shy—drop by the demo tent this Saturday to gather a few drink tips from Local Three’s “Beverage Dude,” aka "Medicine Man." We’re pretty sure he’s got a refreshing cure for whatever ails you.
Skin Cancer Screenings 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Almost Fall Y'all
This week at PRFM...
Chef
Demo with Drew Bellineof No. 246 – 10:00 a.m. on 9/22
Chef Demos are sponsored by
Whole Foods Market
You
may recall from last year's post about Chef Drew Belline that
he's not only a critically lauded chef who's worked with the likes of Charlie Palmer, Tom Colicchio, and team Anne Quatrano and
Clifford Harrison, but he's also got some pretty cool hobbies: fly fishing and
foraging for mushrooms. Since last year, when we learned these fun facts about
Chef Drew, he's opened Decatur's favorite new hotspot, No. 246, with business
partner Ford Fry. Like Fry, Belline is an avid believer in using local
products at their peak (he forages for mushrooms, y'all), and hisItalian-inspired menu at246
is a showcase of these ingredients plus a pretty sweet wood-fired oven. You
know what else is gonna be pretty sweet? This week's demo, of course.

TOMATOES!
Just sayin’…
of JCT., No. 246, & The
Optimist

Chef Demos are sponsored by
Whole Foods Market
Whole Foods Market
If you’ve
enjoyed a delicious beverage at JCT. Kitchen & Bar, No. 246, or Westside’s
newest hotspot The Optimist and its Oyster Bar, you’ve got master mixologist Lara
Creasy to thank. We told you about her many accolades last year, but such a genius as Lara is
constantly receiving more honors for her work crafting some of the freshest
cocktails in the southeast. She currently serves as secretary for the Atlanta
chapter of the U.S. Bartenders’ Guild and just completed her Certified Specialist
of Wine course, receiving the highest exam score in her class. She’s drawn
coastal inspiration for the bar program at Chef Ford Fry’s most recent debut,
seafood restaurant The Optimist, including a clever martini of pink gin, blanc
vermouth, and a garnish of smoked salmon. At The Oyster Bar, Lara features a
daily punch with seasonal fruit served by the pitcher and “oyster backs” made
to pair with daily raw bar specials. Her wine and beer list also feature
coastal regions and port cities, meaning that a staycation is just a hop, skip,
and a sip across midtown. You’ll want to swing by the demo tent this Saturday
for a taste of the good life.

The Perfect Cup
Check out this week’s PRFM demo to learn how to brew the perfect cup of coffee. And next week, enjoy that cup a little longer—fall hours begin on October 1 when the market opens at 9:00 a.m.
Brewmaster Demo with Jason Dominy
of Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters
Brew the Perfect Cup — 10:00 a.m. on 9/24
Chef Demos are sponsored by Whole Foods Market
Coffee-lovin’ PRFM shoppers know that Batdorf & Bronson makes a luscious cup of Joe. Maybe that’s because the beans are roasted just down the way by folks who really care about their craft and your cup. One of those folks is Jason Dominy, Community Outreach and Customer Support Coordinator, who’s joining us this Saturday to answer the question, “How do you get the perfect cup of coffee?” Like all of our demo stars, Jason knows his stuff. He’s been working in the coffee industry for fourteen years and has been a barista, coffeehouse manager, and coffee roaster. Jason’s passion is teaching about great coffee. He sips the sip and walks the walk by serving as chair of the Barista Guild of America; as an espresso expert for the Specialty Coffee Association of America; and he took second place in the Southeast Regional Brewer’s Cup Competition. Whether you’re looking to improve your morning or impress your guests, get ready for competition-ready brew!
The Birds and the Beans
What’s sustainably grown coffee got to do with protecting bird habitats? Atlanta Audubon's Shade-Grown Coffee Campaign has been working since 1996 to increase public awareness of the connection between neotropical migratory birds and traditional coffee farms. The campaign aims to educate consumers about the positive role that shade-grown, fair-trade coffee (like Batdorf & Bronson’s) plays in conserving bird habitats in coffee-producing countries. Come learn more about the issue at PRFM this Saturday and then pick up some “bird-friendly” coffee from Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters.
The Market Mash-Up is getting real, y’all. Check out our swanky poster (click to enlarge) and save the date for fall foods and a mighty fine silent auction!

Mixmaster Lara
Refresh yourself at this week’s Demo with
Mixologist Lara Creasy of JCT. Kitchen and No. 246
10:00 am on 5/21
Chef Demos are sponsored by Whole Foods Market

Southern flavors? Check. Local ingredients? Check. These are just a couple of things that mixologist Lara Creasy has in common with the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. The other thing? Awesomeness. Ok, so that’s more of a lifestyle than a thing, but you can dig it, right? Join us at this Saturday’s demo for a refreshing cocktail of southern, local awesomeness straight from JCT. Kitchen & Bar’s famous Lara Creasy. She’s been mixing things up at JCT. since January 2009 with seasonal drinks that reflect both the old and the new South. And Decatur fans are set to raise a glass soon when she completes the cocktail program at No. 246, the highly anticipated restaurant from Chef Ford Fry (of JCT.) and Chef Drew Belline (formerly of Floataway Cafe). We can’t wait to taste her creative concoctions incorporating tastes and ingredients from the South with the traditional beverages of Italy—a marriage that gave us the classic Bellini (peach + bubbly) can only grow sweeter; and word on the street is that Creasy’s take on the the Bellini transforms it into a seasonal sip that combines local peaches, Cocci Americano, aromatic bitters, peach bitters and Prosecco. Are you ready to whet your whistle yet? Check out this weekend’s demo for tips and tricks on making your own spring and summer sippers—from creating infusions from scratch to masterful muddling, Lara will show you how to beat the heat in delicious fashion. Join us for a juicy cooler featuring mulberries and strawberries—we think you’ll agree that knowledge has never tasted so sweet!
P.S. Three Cheers for Lara! Creasy won the United States Bartender Guild cocktail competition at JCT. Bar— which qualified her to compete alongside some of the world’s greatest bartenders at last weekend’s Manhattan Cocktail Classic. Congrats from everyone at PRFM!
